« on: June 21, 2020, 11:20:58 AM »
He just broke down down the door then came at me with a big knife. I shot him with a P 38 and missed .
I did hit him in the the leg. He went down. I was never charged with anything .

I hope ya done some shooting practice after that. That's what I call poor shot placement tho I guess in the leg, especially the knee is sure to put a fellow on the floor.

I've never needed to even point a gun at anyone and hope I never have to.

Iffen a fellow breaks yer door down and comes in that kinda makes it real clear it was self defense.

I've been lucky.
Just some of the hood rats jiggling
the doors at odd hours checking for
anything left unlocked.
By the time I can get there, they're
always long gone.
Got in the sliding back window of the
truck a month or so ago.  Didn't get
anything, but messed up the weather strip
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

When we first moved in here about 7 years back we had a truck stolen in the middle of the night, and someone trying to break open the front door while we were entertaining the neighbors in the living room.

The previous owners were a bit security conscious, several locking devices on each of the front doors, and that slowed them down enough that I was able to draw my concealed firearm and confront the would be intruders before they gained access. Fortunately for all parties involved the would be invaders scattered like cockroaches in a light, and it ended there.

Just an FYI: When the police ask if you could have shot them the correct response is "I hope I never have to find out".
Youthful enthusiasm is replaced by old age and treachery!

I know, I was about 15 feet away from him and I had a bead on center mass. He kept screaming out in
Spanish that he had the wrong house. Then he ran towards me with the knife so I stepped back and
pulled the trigger, but the gun was pointing lower then so I missed his chest and hit him in the knee.

And your right he went went right down on the floor, that leg went out from under him. That hollow point
bullet destroyed that knee. I never would have thought it could do that much damage, there was blood
everywhere. I called the Sheriffs dept and three Deputies were out here in about 10 minutes.

I had laid the pistol down on the kitchen table and they never even asked to see it. The DA didn't do anything and neither did the Deputies. They just loaded him up in an ambulance, took my name and that was about it.

I did go practice more after that, but another thing to learn is controlling yourself during an adrenaline rush.
I couldn't believe he came at me like he did, with a gun pointed at him. It turned out he had several
arrest warrants out on him. I had never shot anyone before, I could have killed him.
