« on: February 21, 2014, 10:41:52 AM »
I har the stock finish is somewhat plain. Does anyone know what kind of finish is used on this rifle? Tung oil, polyurethane, lacquer, etc ?

Here's 2 quotes from their website for a M85:

1) "Stock is made of high-quality selected walnut. The user can choose between two types of stock:  Pig Back and Monte Carlo. Recoil pad is made of rubber, and grip cap is made of walnut."

2) "Standard finish of metal parts is blue, while the wooden parts are oiled and polished."

That wood M85 they have pictured, doesn't look to me to have what I would consider to be "high-quality selected walnut".  They say the wood is oiled and polished - Again my eye doesn't catch much polishing/shine.  Could be the pic isn't a good representative or their definitions just don't match my thinking.

Anyway, I do think they make a good rifle.  So I'd recommend you checking one out first hand.

I personally handled the gun I was asking about the finish on today.  It appears to be walnut, but not very dark. It looks as though no finish was applied , or at best a very thin finish that soaked completely into the wood. There is simply no shine to be seen anywhere on the wood.

Yeah - That's what the pic looked like to me , too.

Guess if you like the figure in the wood, you could have the finish redone with a darker stain.
