For P-Man to get us the full goods on this.
 
A man had been arrested in DC last year for the possession of ONE ( 1) spent shotshell found during a raid of his house.
 This is still an ongoing legal battle.
Dang, not even up here would that have happened.

The article I read said it was a defective round. The primer had been struck but it did not fire. At one time there a loaded magazine was considered a loaded gun . Even if no gun was present .

The man charged was on FOX and I believe he used the term "spent" Which I consider discharged not a dud.
In either case this whole thing is dragged out and had enough what looks like phony charges from the Cops.

The whole thing stems from a divorce.  His ex told the cops he had weapons in the house.  There was 1 or 2 warrantless searches and at one of these they found a muzzleloader.  Kind of unclear on this, but he either wasn't charged or charges were dropped for this.
 
I believe the dud (primer struck, but did not fire) shotgun round was found during a later search with a warrant.  He had kept it as a momento from a hunt and it was laying on his desk.
 
He was to appear in court again yesterday.  Haven't heard the outcome of that.

Regardless of the outcome, the man is left with a huge cost. I'm not sure how he could recover the $ on a wrongful arrest etc. Sure hope he can stick it  to the KGB type LEO's in DC.
