Kimber 84 Montana: Which caliber??
« on: February 23, 2004, 07:12:14 PM »
Hi again...I reallly would like to order the new Kimber 84 Montana, but I'm unsure as to what I could best use.  I have a Browning 6mm (B-78 HB), and a .280 Remington Classic that is very accurate.  I thought maybe a .308, but, then I saw the 8400 was coming out in the 300 WSM for those trips to MT, NM or WY for elk, etc.  Maybe the .260 is too limited to whitetails (my primary quarry), and a 7mm-08 would be the ticket for a really lightweight rifle, that even the wife could shoot from time to time?

Thanks,
drwe

I love the 7-08, my wife and I both use it. Her in a Rem Model 7 and me in an R700 LSS Mtn. Rifle which replaced my Model 7 in same. I'd not be afraid to use it on elk especially with a premium bullet like the Nosler PT in 150-160 grain weight. Wouldn't be a first choice but I'd sure not worry about it  bouncing off either.
