Caveat Emptor- another fake Lyle gun

I just finished this Lyle gun and will be making and selling them for $190 plus shipping.  The bore is 1.75" golf ball size.  If some years in the future this shows up on fleabay or some other site for $2000+ being passed off as the real thing, then "caveat emptor". LOL

     Dom,  that's a nice one to be sure!  It really reminds me of the Steward D&E Co. Model B Line Throwing Cannon.  Could this type be your inspiration for your beautiful creation? I bet an owner could make an elongated, aluminum, line throwing projectile for it and the weight would be a lot less than the 18 Lbs. of the original!  It would be lots of fun making a faking box and loading it with rescue line as well.  I just talked myself into one; please reserve one for me.

Tracy, You're right, I modeled this after the Steward or Sculler type Lyle gun. like the photo below. 



Also, If you want it closer to the original, I can cut the elevation tabs down to three holes high.

Douglas, Would this be a ship made of pallets?  I can see a line throwing contest happening.  That would be interesting and you would never have to leave the firing line to retrieve the projectile.  Just need to find a volunteer to hold the line like the video below.  ;D  ;D  ;D



Victor,  You're making more work for me good buddy.  :)  In all seriousness, I'll consider this.  It's not the easiest place on a barrel to stamp letters though.

Domnick, great work as always ... most likely if they try to sell it on ebay the will say it's a salesmen's sample.... much lighter than hauling the full scale around to the shipyards and chandlery's........

 If my math is right, one of seacoast's 5/8" wall 1" "liners" will slip right into that mount (but not as a liner).  :o

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.
