My father, god rest his soul, used this acronym to teach me how to shoot. I am sure many have heard it used, particularly you armed forces guys. It stands for Breathe, Relax, Acquire, Sight, Squeeze. For many years this has been my mantra for hunting and target shooting. However, as I age and my eyesight begins to fail I find it difficult to hold the handgun steady as I progress from the Acquire stage to the Squeeze stage. I have tried using shooting stix and they work effectively, but they are just something else to carry.
So, I have come up with a bastardized sling-halter-holster combination out of spare stuff in the basement that is amazingly effective in steadying the aim.
Does anyone else find themselves having a similar difficulty while handgun hunting? If so, were a product available that you could wear like a chest holster, project out to your shooting grip, and steadies the aim be something that you would consider purchasing? Obviously, price is the issue, but lets say under $50 USD.
