Not sure you can make a logical argument there! Millions of wrongs dont make a right! Jihad and sharia law and abortions all abominations to my way of thinking!

Did I ever stop to think---What would have happened almost 20 years ago, if I wouldn't have met my wife. I wouldn't have 2 sons that love to shoot, fish, hunt, play baseball. Help me split firewood, cut grass, clean up dog poop,(hey-not everything is a walk in the park ::) !!) I'd probably still be hanging out in bars 5-6 nights a week, still riding a Harley,(that might just happen agian someday, riding the Harley that is, not the bars!!) MIGHT, have more money than I have,(those bars get expensive, not including DUI's) Having fun getting hit with a line drive to the right shin pitching batting practice for my youngest sons team.(He actually hit it, was a good shot, still red and swollen after almost 2 weeks!!) Yep, stop and think about what might be--I'll stick to my decisions, count my blessings, ask the Good Lord for guidance, and try and be a little quicker on the pitchers mound. :D gypsyman
We keep trying peace, it usually doesn't work!!Remember(12/7/41)(9/11/01) gypsyman

Did you ever think when a hearse goes by
That you might be the next to die
They wrap you up in a big white sheet
And then they bury you six feet deep
You are okay for about a week
Unless your casket springs a leak
The worms go in, the worms go out
The ants play pinochle on your snout
The puss comes out like whipping cream
And I forgot my spoon.

I will add just one thought to this thread.
First I am not for abortion as the means to end a bad one nighter from those that should know better but what about the women who are really raped, be it from a stranger or a known person.
Maybe even incest!
Should they me made to go through the trauma of giving birth to a child that they may end up hating?
I know that most women would love it no matter what but just think about it a little longer.
If you were a woman and you were truly raped against your will by who knows what kind or color of rapest, would you still want something to remind you of it everyday for the rest of your life?
There has to be exceptions to every law and under these circumstances I think it should be allowed.
Just the way I feel about it.

LONGTOM

Few years back I had a conversation with a coworker who's friend decided to have an abortion because she was afraid that her drunkard Husband might abuse the child. (This was a white couple who could have easily found a family willing to adopt.)

My response was - "So to remove the possibility that the child might be abused sometime in the future, the answer is to murder it right now? Heck, I might be abused tomorrow. Maybe I should see if I can find a clinic willing to 'help' me on the way home from work tonight." ::)

As far as rape goes, is the resulting baby responsible for it? We don't generally even sentence the rapist to death. Yet, if a man kills a pregnant woman and her 'fetus,' how many counts of murder is he usually charged with?

Why was this woman charged with murder? Because she didn't have a doctor handle it for her?

Although the carrying may be unpleasant; there is one consolation; for nearly every such baby born..there are probably 20 couples waiting in line to take it, keep it, love and raise it..

You fill in the blank.

Mine is that of the 56 million babies murdered since roe V wade, that maybe one of them would have cured cancer, saved the world from annihilation, or led this country to prosperity without anyone suffering. God does not make mistakes, every birth is planned, by Him.

Yeah, but look at the (ahem) bright side.  ::)  Since the test for Down's Syndrome has been out for many years now, we don't have many of those awful 'retards' burdening society. Most are killed in the womb now.

And happy day; a similar test for Autism is only a few years away! Too bad it won't specify if a child will be born severely autistic, a savant or (like my Son) simply on the "autistic spectrum". People like Bill Gates, Einstein, Mozart, Nicola Tesla, Michelangelo, etc. will have to go to their deaths along with the rest.

Wholly agreed with but the victim of the rape, the mother, will carry those scars for the rest of her life no matter which of the three she chooses.

Agreed longtom, I can't presume to know how that affects someone. I can only look at it objectively, and morally, Why commit sin against God, because sin was committed against you, and God. There are to many Loving women and potential Dads out there, that would so love a child. No one has put me in charge, (prolly for good reason) but it is my take on it.

If you recall, Tim Tebow's Mom was strongly advised to terminate him..but she didn't do so..  Here are some who did try to abort, but failed.  Now the children suffer with things like cerebral palsy, bad hips etc:

Attempted abortion survivors. These are people who survived an actual abortion attempt. In other words, the abortion failed to kill them.
Twin abortion survivors. These are people whose twin was aborted but they themselves survived.
Sibling abortion survivors. These are people born into families where a brother or sister was aborted.
Put yourself in their places. What is it like to know that your own parent attempted to kill you before you were born? Or, why was your brother or sister aborted and you were not? These are the terrible issues which abortion survivors have faced and dealt with. There are many abortion survivors. Here is a sampling of their stories:

Gianna Jessen
My name is Gianna Jessen... I was aborted, and I did not die. My biological mother was 7 months pregnant when she went to Planned Parenthood in southern California, and they advised her to have a late-term saline abortion.
A saline abortion is a solution of salt saline that is injected into the mother's womb. The baby then gulps the solution. It burns the baby inside and out, and then the mother is to deliver a dead baby within 24 hours.
This happened to me! I remained in the solution for approximately 18 hours and was delivered ALIVE... in a California abortion clinic. There were young women in the room who had already been given their injections and were waiting to deliver dead babies. When they saw me the abortionist was not yet on duty and had me transferred to the hospital. I should be blind, burned... I should be dead! And yet, I live! Due to a lack of oxygen supply during the abortion I live with cerebral palsy.
When I was diagnosed with this, all I could do was lie there. They said that was all I would ever do! Through prayer and hard work by my foster mother, I was walking at age 3 ½ with the help of a walker and leg braces. At that time I was also adopted into a wonderful family. Today I am left only with a slight limp. I no longer have need of a walker or leg braces.
...Death did not prevail over me... and I am so thankful!

Breanna
I was 12 years old when I found out my aunt had tried to abort my cousin, Sean, who is now 5 years old. I was devastated, but the news I heard next was even worse. I learned she had already aborted three previous children who would have been my beautiful cousins.
The only reason she did not abort Sean was because every time she went to the doctor for a pregnancy test, it did not show that she was pregnant. By the time she found out she really was pregnant, our state would not allow for the abortion, and she decided she didn't want to travel to another state for the abortion.
I stand against abortion. Knowing that three of my cousins were aborted and Sean was almost aborted hurts me deeply. So, girls, know that when you abort, it affects everyone, not just you and your child.

Ashley
My mother had an abortion before she had me. Not too long after, she found out she was pregnant again. She decided that time to go for adoption instead of abortion. However, at the last minute she changed her mind, so I live with her now.
She never married, and for twelve years I grew up an only child and was spoiled. Then my father came for a visit, and later my mother announced she was yet again pregnant. I didn't know what to think. I had grown up all by myself, and now there was someone else to share my attention with. I feel left out, like this new baby has taken over.
If my mother had never gotten that abortion, I would not be going through some of the depression I am now because I would have grown up with a sibling all my life and would, without a doubt, be better off, for I would probably not be such a loner and so used to getting all the attention.

Sarah Smith
My mother's choice was my death sentence. My mother, Betty, had an abortion... A few weeks after that she was sitting at home reading when the book on her stomach began to bounce up and down. That's when she knew she was still pregnant... with ME!
"I'm so sorry, Betty," the doctor told her when she went back to him, "You were carrying twins."
Although a second abortion was suggested, my mother refused and instead brought me to term. I was born with bilateral congenital dislocated hips, a condition for which I've had dozens of operations. It hasn't stopped me from pursuing my medical studies, though, or from speaking out whenever I can for the right to life. ?I have forgiven my parents for trying to abort me, and I forgive the abortionist who killed my twin brother and who almost killed me. I often think of my brother, Andrew James, whom nobody can replace.
I believe that the way of truth, love, and God's grace is the only way to deal with the abortion tragedy. I would like to call all people to stand with me to defend the right to life of all persons. There are many alternatives to abortion. Nobody needs to sacrifice her child, no matter what anyone says.

Rebekah Forney
When I was eight, I was snooping around my mom's Bible while she wasn't home and found four pieces of paper that were folded up and stuffed between the pages. I unfolded them and read the first sentence: "I was sixteen years old when I became pregnant with Elizabeth and I had no idea what to do." Not knowing what I had just found, I quickly shoved the papers back into the Bible and tried to forget about it.
Two nights later, it was still bothering me. My mom, dad, and I were out to dinner; and in the middle of my parents' conversation I blurted out, "Mom, were you pregnant when you were 16?" She just looked at me with tears filling her eyes. She explained to me how she had an abortion; and as an eight-year-old, I could only imagine what it was. She said something about my sister, whom she had named Elizabeth, being in Heaven. At that moment it clicked for me that I had lost my sister.
Over the next three years... I grasped the concept of what an abortion really was and got used to the fact that I was deprived of a sister I should have had. It was scary to know that my mom had killed someone that was so important to me.
As I reached my teen years, I began to write in a journal. Instead of writing Dear Diary, I would write Dear Liz. I became obsessed with finding the father of my sister because I felt like it would somehow bring me closer to her. I wrote stories and poems about this girl I would never know and pretended she was a person. After I had my heart broken by a guy, I wished she were there to help me through it; and my tears of a broken heart turned into tears of missing my sister. I was mad at my mom for being so selfish and taking the life of her own child just so she wouldn't have to bear the weight of having a kid at 16.
I finally grew out of my stage of denial that Liz wasn't alive. Call me crazy, but sometimes I would talk to her at night as if she was next to me listening. After a lot of prayer, writing, and talking, I came to the realization that even though Mom did abort my sister, being mad at her wouldn't do me any good. We've resolved things and have a strong relationship. Thanks to her and my aunt, I have overcome the denial of my sister's death.
After holding in my feelings for so long, I had to let them out. I was not only dealing with the loss of a sister, but the regular trials of a teenage girl on the brink of life: school, pressure from friends and parents, making decisions for my life, and accepting myself for who I am. I had a few close friends that helped me through all this, and I also did a lot of writing. Writing is the way that I found I can express myself the most. For some people it's painting; for others it's a sport. After praying about it, I came to the last step in giving up my issues with my sister: I handed them over to Christ.
If you find out that you lost a sibling to abortion, you have to let your feelings out. Don't keep them bottled up inside because you will drive yourself crazy. Tell your parents what you're thinking so that they know what you are dealing with; and try not to be mad at them for taking the life of someone that could have been in your life. Also, get involved with a youth group. Building a relationship with Christ is the best way to let go of all your pain.

Alex
When I was 3 years old I saw my mom on TV. She was speaking to a man about how she killed her baby and regretted it. As she told her story and how she became a pro-life speaker, I watched and listened. My grandma didn't think I was old enough to understand.
When my mom picked me up that night I asked her why she killed my brother or sister and why she didn't kill me. My mom said she was in shock that her 3-year-old would ask these questions. She answered them the best she could for me, and as I got older I learned more.
Now my mom and I are pro-life speakers. She has been one for almost 15 years, and I just started last year. My mom was 18 when she had the abortion, and I'm now 17."I thank God I'm alive." I thank God I'm alive. I'm still sad to know I have an older brother or sister who was denied the chance to LIVE - something we all take for granted. I hope someday we will meet. That's why I do what I do.

That is true Oldshooter.
My Mom was one that didn't care what color it was or what was wrong with it, if no one wanted it she would take it in and care for it.
I guess it is what you call being a MOTHER!!!
Glad I would never have to make that choice for I know I would choose to keep it no matter what.

It is a sin against God only in your opinion.
Children's souls come to earth FROM GOD, and GOD alone.
Better to be with GOD than MAN, especially when the child is unwanted.

If God decides a child, any child, is going to be born, it will be born, period.
God is God, man is not a god.
All this moronic crap about a person who would cure cancer was was not born, etc., etc., etc. is moronic bs with man making a god out of himself.

It is amazing how you consider to be on Earth in an undesirable proposition to be better than to be with God in his realm.

Oh so man is so great that he can decide on what God does and does not want, hmmm.
Job got a lesson on that attitude.

You can play god as long as you want it fits with the old saying about blindness because of the forest and trees, or as it says in the Bible about speck in others eyes and the log in the eye of the self-righteous.

I am glad you liked the poem, it is more upbeat than the posts saying raped women should just buck-up and deal with it.

Bob, I'm not trying to any get any law passed here, or repealed, and i didn't intend this whole thread to about abortion. I don't want to impose my feelings on anyone, let alone raped women.  ::)   God knows us before we are a gleam in our fathers eye. He has a plan is all I'm saying. I thought about the 56 million babies aborted and wondered who some of them may have been. If you take exception to my opinion we will just agree to disagree. The Lord will sort it out, much as he will all this denominational bashing going on. Seems a whole lot of judging is going on here and I'm sure he has(based on scripture) ideas about that. God bless you and keep you!

LONGTOM. True that a rape victim will carry those scars for life, but murdering the child for the sins of the father sure doesn't seem right to me. POWDERMAN.  :( :(

Back on track..

Did you ever stop to think...

Lol, that was my Dad's favorite question.  Usually right after I did something stupid, such as mimicking Wile E. Coyote's line of black powder to the powder keg.  Was gonna get rid of a stump for him.  Hint...   Don't light a line of black powder with a match if you like your eyebrows.

Funny you mentioned that. I was thinking the same thing before I scrolled down to your post. As a kid I once lost my eyebrows and some hair, with the same idea in a pile of leaves. It only took once to learn that lesson. My dad heard the woof and came out of the house, and then it started. "I told you to never mess around with gas. I'm gonna .................."
It was probably one of those times I thought, "eeeh, whats the old man know. Can't remember the age I reached before I realized that Dad knew more than I thought I did.
