Friend Recieves Death Threats
« on: May 01, 2013, 08:31:02 PM »
I'm not using any names here or locations, due to the ongoing investigation.

A good friend of mine is a guide.  He specializes in Wolves.  The animal rights activist have been watching him for years.  Now they have gone to publishing his name and actions on line.  They tell where he is taking the bulk of his Wolves.  many animal rights people are really up in arms, and are calling him day and night making death threats.  He has turned them over to the FBI, but they are just blowing them off.

Finally someone has placed a bounty on his head.  Quite a sum of money.  My friend called the FBI and again they just blew it off.  Then two guys on line started questioning how they could collect the money after the job was done.

A past client is a high level prosecuting attorney back east.  He had told my friend if he ever needed anything to call him.  So my friend did.  He got word today, several people are in jail.  And prosecution is going forward.  This is attempted murder, and attempted murder for hire.

My friend has moved out of his homestead cabin, and is staying in town.  He himself is not concerned, it's his wife and kids he is thinking about.  The Death Threats are still coming in.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

He needs to get the names of the agent's that he contacts and make them public if they don't give the problem attention, BEFORE he is dead.  ear

Nothing prompts law enforcement action like bad press. I would start with the local TV station about FBI inactivity and the threats. Most people do not realize what a menace the wolf actually is. Add in write up to the TV station about what danger the wolves actually present. Your friend should keep calling the FBI. Field and Stream magazine did an article 10 years ago on a Montana wolf hunter facing the same situation.

Best of luck to your friend, I hope it all works out.

Everytime I hear about some group posting names of another group of people it kind of ticks me off.
I think someone should publish the names of the  animal rights activist  in the paper and let see how it feels.

I don't get how this corelates to the problem the person in the original post is having. It cuts both ways. Good for the goose good for the gander? Both deserve publishing I guess? OK, I'll get there after while. ear

does the hypocrisy of the animal rights movement know any bounds? It always amazes me how they are willing to take human lives to preserve animal lives. Lets kill because we want the killing to stop. It makes a lot of sense doesnt it?

Actually all I was saying is if I wanted my name published in the newspaper as a member or cohort of some group I would do it myself, I don't want somebody else doing it just because I don't see eye to eye with them. So why not publish all thier names so everyone will know who they are now. I wasn't trying to make any connection to the OP.

Why are they picking on him? There are lots of wolf hunters, aren't there? Is a particularly high profile guide? We're talking Alaska here, where anybody who doesn't hunt and fish is some kind of weirdo, right?

We have some billboards here in Minnesota paid for by an animal rights group. Text says something like "Stop the DNR (dept of natural resources) murder of wolves".

Minnesota isn't a big wolf state, but it's a healthy population of huntable size, so there's an annual hunt. The population has been steadily rising, and for years no hunting of wolves was permitted.

My buddies up north say the increase in wolf population has drastically cut the deer population in areas where there are wolves. A lot of guys have given up deer hunting because it's just not worth it anymore. A lot of guys bought land up there so they'd have a place for deer hunting.

It's an interesting example of how animal rights people often see only one side of an issue.

I remember several years ago when there was a heavy push to put prairie dogs of all kinds on the endangered species list. They didn't like all those evil hunters shooting prairie dogs. I was in South Dakota when the ranchers were poisoning every prairie dog they could find because they didn't want an endangered specie on their land. Too risky. That poisoning probably killed more prairie dogs in one year than all the shooting since the dawn of time.

By no means am I for completely exterminating every wolf but they should be managed just like any other game animal. I wonder how many species have been saved by scientific game management practices versus the ALF's game management practices based on terrorism and emotion?

Lakota,

How many? All of them. If the animals don't have value to people, they soon get eliminated. The ones that ate valuable survive. Case in point, whitetail deer were extinct in some states until management began. Now there are plenty. The preservationists live in big cities with no deer.

Wolves, for example, have long been perceived as a menace. Without a conservation ethic driven by sport hunter sensibilitues and funding, they all would likely have died out before 1950.
