Can't decide what I really want. Busy morning
« on: May 01, 2013, 05:52:47 PM »
I have been wanting a Walther P-38 for years.  A gun shop in Tennessee has a bunch listed on Guns America today.  Sat down to order one. , Called my local FFL dealer, got his fax number to give to the folks in Tennessee.  Called the gun shop in Tennessee, and just as we started talking and I was telling them what I wanted, heard a crash out front.  Dog went crazy, barking so loud I could not hear the phone.  Told them I would call back.

Neighbor was loading his Bobcat onto his trailer, using the area of my drive since it's the widest part of our street.  People can go around easy there.  Mike uses an F-350, and a light weight equipment trailer.  He does not need anything heavy for his Bobcat.  Teenagers came around the corner, with their foot in the throttle.  Their chevy 1500 was sideways in the snow, and they were playing around.  Problem was they were going a bit too fast.  Before the driver realized it he did not have time to avoid Mike's truck.  They hit it hard.  On the fresh snow Mike's truck slid back, and sideways.  Bobcat having it's trailer lurch sideways, with snow under it's tires, went sideways off the ramps  It fell onto it's side in my drive.  By the time the Troopers came out, did their investigation, had the wrecked Chevy hauled off and the parents came and picked up their kids.  I used my Jeep to roll the Bobcat back onto it's wheels, clearing the way to get my F-350 out of the drive.  I dragged Mikes truck and trailer back so they were straight.  Then disconnected the trailer, and hooked it to my truck.  Then a wrecker could haul away Mikes truck.  I put my truck with Mikes trailer attatched, in Mikes Drive, and left it there.  Minor sheet metal damage to Bobcat.  Mike thinks he may have broken a few ribs.  I forgot all about calling the gun shop back.

I went into town and attended a F&G meeting.  Then I stopped at a Pawn Shop on the way home.  That was my down fall.  I saw a Ruger Super Blackhawk, in .44 Mag.  It has a 4" barrel, and is in great shape.  Lady at Pawn Shop came down $50.00, and I brought it home.  Now I'm ticked at myself for no waiting for the P-85, but I really like the Ruger.  The Ruger is more practical, the P-85 is a want.

Oh well I'll get a P-38 one day, maybe.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

The local gunstore had a P-38 for about $380 as I remember. Seemed like an awfully low price to me. I'm not an auto guy but I thought I may have to get it at that price. Alas when I went back with money in my pocket it was gone.

And I didn't even have to move a wreck to get out of my driveway
