well.....adding 2 baby glocks to the stables
« on: April 16, 2013, 01:43:48 PM »
traded a shotgun and a ruger 22 for a glock 26 tonight, nice little gun will more than likely become my night stand gun. Also will be trading off my springfield xd for a 27 this week. I should have bought another glock when i bought the xd, like the gun but I just love pretty much everything about the glocks. who has the 26 and 27? how do you like them?

Does your 26 have the magazine extension on it. It kinda defeats the compactness of the lil bugger but makes it feel better in the hand

When I am carrying a concealed handgun, it is usually my Glock 26.  Yea, I own smaller, I own more powerful, I own prettier.... But that Glock feels good in my hand, is accurate as a full sized gun, and has fed thousands of rounds of anything I put in it, including some questionable stuff.  It has nite sights, and a Crimson Trace laser.  Stays put in my hand under rapid fire with my little finger wrapped tight under the magazine... Something a lot of small guns don't do... Loaded with 11 Plus P 115's, what more could I ask in a carry gun?  I have an old 1st generation Glock 19 that years ago, I started shooting without cleaning, back when I got all the 9mm ammo I wanted for free, just to see how long it would go before malfunctioning.  Lost track now how many rounds without cleaning, but you'd probably call me a liar if I guessed how many....

A strong second choice is my Kimber 45 1911 Ultra compact.  3 less rounds then the Glock, but thinner, a little more accurate, and a great trigger.  Loaded with +P 230's, it hits hard.  Stays put in my hand, and has none of the reliability problems some folks seem to have with compact 1911's.  The Crimson Trace laser grips are a nice feature as well.

I have a S&W M&P .45 compact that is about the same size as the Glock 26, but holds 2 less rounds, is not as accurate, and has a mediocre trigger at best.  It's OK during slow fire, but just does not handle as well as the Glock, or the Kimber when shooting for speed... Even though the grip feels good, it just seems to move around too much in my hand under rapid fire.   I use it as my night stand gun as it has a combat light mounted on it and handles a little better with the extended finger magazine.

I had a Glock Model 26 9mm up until about 8 or 9 months ago. I traded it for a Glock Model 30 SF. Yes I really like my Glock Model 30SF but I sure do miss the Glock Model 26.
I carry a Glock Model 21SF as a Duty Handgun and on our State Qualification Course of Fire I always qualified with the the same score with both the Model 21SF or Model 26. SO in other words (at least for me) the smallest of Glocks shoots as good as a Full Size Glock .45 ACP.

I keep hoping Glock with make a somewhat slimmer single stack version of the Model 26, but if they never do I will end up with another Glock Model 26 some day.

had a 26 for about a year. traded it off and dont miss it a bit. To me it was a bit to chunky and hard to grip with my large hands. Like was said much better with a grip extension but even then for ccw a officers or comander 1911 is much flatter and easier to carry and conseal. I love my 23 and 20 but the 26 just didnt do it for me.

I've got a gen 1 or 2 27 that I've carried for years as a back up gun. Thought a time or two of upgrading to a new generation one for the $130 but just never got around to it. It works fine. When we finally go with the gen 4 I'll probably take it and trade it in to have the same feel. Not really enough difference between a gen 1,2 or 3 to tell much difference. My main gripe is it's getting so old the tritium sights are getting a little dim, so I'd like to get another one in the next few years. Not really worth buying a set of sights only when I'm figuring on getting shed of it anyways.

The thing I hate about it, the grip aint worth a dern without a 22 or 23 mag in it or the little finger extension. But not a bad gun. Can be just as accurate as a 23 if you grip it right.
