Hello from Kentucky
« on: March 19, 2013, 06:28:03 AM »
First post.
Brother Bernie invited me over here.
Thank you brother Bernie.
Im a disabled Vet, retired, bought a 70 acre farm in southeast Kentucky.
Spend my time hunting, shooting, building BP rifles, trapping, fishing, leather working, etc.
Currently working on the sites for my H&R BC, Bernie is helping me along.
Make my own gear, bags,pouches,belts,holsters,etc.
Sometimes I use my tanned hides in my bag making.
Not done much in a while, arthritis is slowing me down.

This bag I made from a bobcat.
I made this butt cuff and did the engraving for the H&R BC
I finished this holster last week.
I bought a heritage rough rider 22 combo two weeks back and decided to make a holster for it.
i used 8 oz veg tan leather with heavy weight linen thread.
antiqued it with easy off oven cleaner, wet formed to the revolver, then after it dried, treated it with saddle soap.

i like the watch too
i have one similar, but it's a
quartz timex. i have a russian
wind-up, but i don't carry it.
if i gilflirt it, i have no way to replace it.
i'll find me a decent winder someday
that i won't mind carrying.

they're pretty robust.
i have one pocketwatch, and three
wristwatches. but these are from
the u.s.s.r./ soviet russia, not the
modern day russia. they can still
be had, but the newer ones say
made in russia in english instead
of the cyrillic russian and c.c.c.p.
if i were to have one go south,
i have to get a newer one (if i
could find it) the ones i had were brought
back by the relative of a friend.

It seems to be robust, all words in russian, except for the numbers on the face.
Im not impressed with the chain though.
may look for a better chain next time Im in Lexington KY.
Ive got another pocket watch, battery operated, made in china, has a better chain on it then the russian one
