In the paper every day too.  Point of fact though, Public Radio (here in Oregon anyway) is mostly paid for by listeners not tax dollars.

True, and it's generally true nationwide, and ranges from 80 to 90% depending on the market. The difference, however, is the difference between profitability and failure. Take 10 to 20% of any given company's revenues away and see what happens to profits.
 
I think it should be entirely listener dollars. That way, the complaining is over about their funding, and they are free to broadcast anything they like in an unfettered manner. The old idea of a public radio system was obsolete almost before it was implemented.
