If you have theft insurance on your firearms and the government comes and takes them from you with out composition can you file a claim with the insurance co on them?
The government STOLE them!

I know you intended it as humor, but it really does open the question of whether there's a whole new area of insurance that's related to insuring against capricious acts of government. Like taking your firearms, or your land, or damaging property during a raid. Or taking your money by inflating the currency.

Remember, they can't take something from you without compensation as long as you have done nothing wrong.

Sure they can. They just can't take it without due process. The passing of legislation would be that due process. Like anything they have made illegal, they can, and will, take it without compensation. Think of all those dopers that lost their stash when certain drugs were made illegal. Or, how about all those stills that were smashed when prohibition went into effect.
