Lucky Star Ranch - NY...Still in business???
« on: February 17, 2004, 02:56:54 PM »
Hi Guys,

I'm thinking that instead of TX, I'd book into Lucky Star in NY.  Seems their web site is non-existent.  Anyone have any info on them????   Anyone hunt with them???

Thanks!

Doug

I used to see them at their bopoth at the Springfield Sportsman's Show every Febuary. They are absent this year. I too wonder what had happened to them.

Hi BB,

Me too. I didn't go to springfield this year. ;0(

I was thinking of going to the OldStone Fence preserve in Rensellear Falls NY sometime in October.  It would be cheaper than going to Lucky Star or TX, though, not much of a hunt.

Thanks.

Springfield is Ok to go to but I don't know if I will go again. It cost 3 bucks to park and 10 to get into the door. I see a number of outfitters from various states and look at my own circumstances. I would love to go out West to hunt, but because I am employed in education, I cannot take the time off for the hunting trips. As far as some places like Africa, well I really don't care to fly over there.

I heard about Old Stone. I haven't heard anyone tell me how the hunting was there.

It would be nice to have a good place in the New England area that didn't cost a lot of money.

Hey Bigboar,

I booked at old stone fence for mid-October.  I'm planning on trophy red stag, fallow, buff and boar.  I'm an SCI certified measurer, so, I'll be pretty picky.

I'll report when I get back.

BigBore444:  Two of my friends went to the Old Stone Fence for a Boar hunt and loved it.  Yes, it is a guided hunt and although they had never hunted like that before, they had a great time.  Each took a 250 lb boar.

My brother is going up in January for a Buffalo.  I am thinking of going on up there for either Elk or their Giant Red Stag, depending on which is the larger beast.  My criteria is price per pound of edible meat going into the freezer and I don't know yet if the larger the critter the more cost effective the price.  Also, I don't know, yet, how large their Giant Red Stag go but if they are about the same as Elk, I may have to go twice (LOL).  HTH.  Mikey.

BTW, they are on the net at www.oldstonefence.com.  I think that's it.
