Michigan Grouse Hunting
« on: February 16, 2004, 08:29:48 PM »
My father and I are looking to to do some grouse hunting in Michigan next fall. I was wondering if anyone could give me some direction on where would be a good place to hunt. We would prefer to hunt in either zone 2 or zone 3, but at this point and time, we are open for suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Well here's the deal. understand that the gouse population peaked in 2001/2 here in Michigan and are now on the down cycle. We did some grouse hunting in 2000 and 2001 in the UP and did real well. Any good gouse looking habitat in the Northern Lower or Upper should be holding grouse now. If you hunt in the UP try around the Crystal Falls area, we hunted there and averaged flushing about 15 - 25 grouse a day. Keep in mind that was with 4 guys and 1 dog. Good Luck!
