Associated Press    HUNTSVILLE, Texas –  A Texas woman convicted of the grisly slaying and robbery of a 71-year-old neighbor is set to become the first woman executed in the United States since 2010.
Kimberly McCarthy faces lethal injection Tuesday evening in Huntsville. She'd also be the first woman put to death in Texas in more than eight years.
 
A Dallas County jury already had convicted McCarthy of the slaying of retired psychology professor Dorothy Booth at her home south of Dallas in 1997 when evidence at the punishment phase of her trial tied her to two similar murders a decade earlier.
Jurors determined she should be put to death.
Evidence showed Booth's finger was hacked off with a butcher knife to steal her wedding ring.

Justice is getting rare.  If you take a life, you should forfeit your own.

It seems that McCarthy was "severely addicted" to cocaine, and therefore was hangin with a bad crowd that provided a "bad influence". She asked to borrow a cup of sugar to get into Booths house, and the rest is history. The judge thinks she might have been discriminated against by a 11 white & 1 black jury.
Maybe she was discriminated against by being forced to murder an all white woman, because a black one with money wasn't available.

Maybe her lawyer should have gone the "OJ" route as far as a jury goes.  That worked out well.
