760 300 Savage price check
« on: January 14, 2013, 07:11:56 AM »
I was offered a 760 in .300 Savage. It is a 1953 manufacture date. The receiver is drilled and tapped, not origanol, it is missing the rear sight and the stock has been cut and a recoil pad put on (not very well). Also there is a hole in the buttstock for a swivel. Older Lyman fixed scope with Weaver rings and mounts.. He wants $400.

I bought my 30-06 carbine 760 in 1985 with a 4x Redfield scope for $400.     Sounds like you got a good deal with yours.

Mike,

I looked at one in Anchorage, AK a few years ago. It was in nice condition with a little blue wear. They wanted $375 if memory serves me right. You don't find too many in that caliber but they are not highly collectible unless close to 100% condition.  ;)

Lots of .300 Savage Model 99s out here in Utah, but I don't think I ever saw one in a 760. I DID mess up and let a nice 760 in .35 Remington get away from me, they wanted 350 for it. I think with what guns are going for today, $400 is fair, especially if the scope is usable/repairable. Good luck to you.
