I flew mine at half staff and upside down 4 years ago up to the inauguration. I did the same thing this time around, but have no intention, except for a few special days, of returning it to full staff with the union up for as long as necessary. I gave over 20 years of my life in defense of this country and the Constitution. I have earned that right. This is not a sign of disrespect of the flag.
I flew my flag upside down 4 years ago as well , never meant any disrespect .
However , one Sunday morning an elderly fellow knocked on my door ,( turned out to be a neighbor down the road ) .
He was a Korean war vet , asked me why I was dispalying the flag in that manner . I told why and that no disrespect was meant .
He asked very nicely if would please correct that , he understood my position , he felt the same but there are other ways to express distress . He just could not stand to look at it that manner and out of respect for him I immediately displayed the flag up right and at full staff. It can be controversial to some.
Later on he gave me a Gadsen flag .
