No Assault Weapon Ban

Obama said he won't introduce an Assault Weapons Ban.  Not too bad, eh?  I told ya so.  All that fear talk we heard from Republicans was all just gorilla dust.   ;D
Study after study has shown how dangerous distracted driving is yet people continue to talk on their cell phones while driving. Driving in the U.S. requires your full attention. Many states and countries have made it illegal to use a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle and the federal government should follow their lead. Banning the use of cell phones while driving would have the added benefit of making the no-texting law enforceable.

Introducing one and signing off on one are two completely different things. That also leaves plenty of wiggle room for banning all manner of items that are related to those weapons. It leaves open the registration of the weapons and their owners, leaves open the possibility of punitive taxes, the legality of keeping it at home... ad nauseum, ad infinitum.

Anyway if all the headline implies is true, great. I do not trust them now, and likely will not trust them in the future. Gun grabbers, Democrat and Republican alike treat this issue as a religion, logic and fact are not to be part of the discussion, end results are all that matter. They are willing to eat the elephant one bite at a time.

The prez don't have to do anything.  his lackeys will handle it.

EQ, eating the elephant one bite at a time is something the conservatives never learned to do.
the liberals are experts at it, and we didn't see the monster sneaking up on us.

It was a great stimulus package. I guarantee the threat of a gun and magazine ban do more for the economy then the cash for clunkers ever did. And it was not financed buy the taxpayers.

He does not have to introduce a bill, Congress or legislature does that. He will just use that good old Ex. Order. Much faster and no chance it would not make it thought one of the houses.

I see a Republican who helped in the hijacking of our foreign policy, Bill Kristol, warned us in his propaganda organ, The Weekly Standard, that Obama will use an executive order.  Maybe Kristol is only projecting what he and his cohorts know how to do.  They know how to operate without a majority.  Are you kidding? They are the enemies of the majority!

I know I am beating a dead horse but, EXECUTIVE ORDERS ARE ILLEGAL. Nowhere in the Constitution is the Executive Branch granted such authority. Remember, the Executive Branch is GRANTED authority, it has no rights.

High cap mag ban is the same thing as an "Assualt Weapons" ban.

Exactly my point Swampy. As would a fixed magazine law. Since there is no definition as to what a assault weapon is, the ban can be ever changing as well.

Keep your cool, folks. Focus on gun rights and not partisan pissin' contests, and it'll be okay, probably.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Many want a ban just so they can blame it on Obama, but their beef is they don't like Obama on other issues.  If you gave them their 'other' candidate, there wouldn't be a gripe if that candidate passed the biggest Assault Weapons Ban ever.  They would then say, that's OK, he was still the lessor of evils.  You can't win with these people.  That is why we need to gut the Republican party of them.   >:(

Hey!

I think I bought that bridge when someone promised "read my lips...no new taxes".  How'd you get it?  hehehe....

The President isn't lying, HE will not introduce a bill.....tis true.

BUT

You can bet your ever loving a$$ he WILL sign when presented with said bill.

We need to remember there is more to the Constitution than the 2nd amendment, like say...the 10th amendment?

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

......OR TO THE PEOPLE.

Now, granted the 14th amendment renders the 10th not as potent as it was....but it still has teeth.

true, the Liar in Chief will not introduce a bill. He cannot. All bills must be introduced by a Senator or a Representative. But we know he will lobby like hell to get the one he wants passed.

I think the fight will be taken to the states.
It appears some states are not waiting for a Federal outcome , They are moving to craft their own legislation to ban Assault weapons.

Still don't understand who gets to determine what is and isn't an Assault weapon.

Let me predict that a ban will not be questioned by the Feds, states rights and all.  ::)   But when a state overrides any plan to implement a ban you can expect all manner of protestations from the Feds.

Just look at it..a magazine capacity limit effectively gets what they want without spouting the name of Assault Weapon Ban. Watch for ammo bans and stiff restrictions on purchases. Registration requirements and high taxes or charge for permits. all these things will in effect do what they want without banning any specific weapon.

The democrats have introduced a bill in congress to outlaw internet sale of ammo, this will ofcourse include reloading componants. You had better be on the phone with your elected officals NOW!
