I agree .
We do need to learn to respect it as the one tool that can take back out neighborhoods from the criminals, protect our schools , protect our homes , protect our nation and ensure our freedoms. we need to think like the founding fathers ( you know the guys who smoked less but carried a gun on their walks ). We need to teach our youth that it is a tool of freedom to be respected and use wisely .
 We need to instill the idea that giving up the tool will not accomplish the job only make it impossible to continue !

I can't remember ever thinking it's primary purpose was anything BUT that.  Of course I probably did back when I was a kid and didn't think about politics and just wanted more than anything to go hunting!
