Accidental Deaths A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000. (B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000. (C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171 Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Now think about this: Guns (A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80 million) (B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500. (C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188 Statistics courtesy of FBI >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.' >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT Almost everyone has at least one doctor. This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor as by a gun owner!!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Out of concern for the public at large, We withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention

A couple of times the insurance company has stepped in and changed my medicine.

Sorry to disagree, but those 120,000 are ACCIDENTAL deaths caused by mistakes they have made; if you die because of a corporate insurance decision, you don't get counted in that bunch. Docs are just people; they make mistakes.
If you give up, THEY don't have to win.

The greatest idea the right ever had is personal responsibility; the greatest idea the left ever had is social responsibility. Both take effort.

The Founding Fathers had complete access to the Bible, but they came up with the Constitution as our governing document.

don't forget often doctors instruction is not followed or mis read. But like those bad guns they save more lives than kill. A world with out either would be less comfortable.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Modern Doctors are no longer allowed to preform the services that they once did at their own discretion. Have you ever noticed that even if you go in for something as treatable as appendicitis
that they preform every test on you under the sun ? Sometimes hitting your insurance company for
thousands of dollars and that is even before the procedure to remove it .
That is the lawyers doing that not the surgeon who prevents you from getting parentinitus.
Add to that the schools that are cranking out nurses at a rate it rivals oil field welders or truck drivers during a boom. Simple procedures such as removing a catheter during a routine exam are on the rise as killing people.

Doctors anymore are slow to prescribe and only advise. Because the insurance company has
its panel of Docs who like Bugeye said will over ride the Doctor who was hands on with the patient
and knows the case firsthand. These stats in this thread are accurate, but like with gun deaths how much of it can really be attributed to Legal and responsible gun owners ? Who in the end are taking it
on the chin for those who are not.

True point well taken ! but are they doctors at that point or murders ? don't they take an Oath not to harm ? If they violate the Oath are they still doctors ?

My dentist is a competition pistol shooter and deer hunter. He offered to let me borrow his S&W .44 mag if I wanted to try handgun hunting or pigs or deer.

bad news about the hippocratic oath... it's no longer reqired by the medical associations...it would get in the way of the entire abortion issue, idealogically, since it names abortion, specifically, as a medically unethical action!
