Thumbhole stocks
« on: January 09, 2013, 01:06:45 PM »
I noticed that thumbhole stocks are mentioned in proposed guns bans.... My question is what military arms/assault weapons have thumbhole stocks?
Just another worthless opinion!!

The only one that comes to mind is the Dragunov, but the point isn't that it is a military style stock, it is that it can be used to bypass the pistol grip characteristic in the old ban.

Since the last assault weapons ban guns that look like M16s and similar military guns have become the standard design, therefore more models will be subject to any new bans.

I think it was midway where I see they make thumb hole stocks for ar's instead of pistol grip.

I get it... That is another one of the "loopholes" they are screaming about. Personally I'm not a fan of "full out" pistol grips if find them cumbersome for shooting purposes. Most thumbhole stock I have seen don't have much more of a pistol grip than a standard stock. This is just more foolishness from from the anti gun crowd.

I think the issue here is not so much that there's a thumb hole, but that thumb hole stocks typically have an almost vertical pistol grip. It's this pistol grip aspect that the antis want as an identifying characteristic of assault weapons. So, that single shot prairie dog XP100 with the zebra wood and the thumb hole stock you've had for 40 years may be considered an assault weapon. So is that Anschutz match 22.

If you're expecting any common sense, or logic from the grabber crowd, you are going to be very disappointed.
