cleanning a Arkansas stone sharping stone
« on: January 03, 2013, 08:12:18 AM »
well i have been useing my Smith  Arkansas TRI-HONE Sharpening Stones System a lot on my Katana  and it has a lot of fouling  like glazed of metal on the end of it. I use soap+water when sharping and  it says in the book that came with it to use a old toothbrush to clean it with warm soapy water. Is this the best way to clean it or do i need to use something else like a copper chore boy cleaning pad?

comet powder or tide powder and a
bristle brush, tooth or otherwise.
fyi, if you can see the pores in the stone
you've successfully cleaned it .
it'll probably never look brand new again,
but it'll still work just as good.
same method for ceramic rods and such
