Cold Steel Panga Machete
« on: January 01, 2013, 08:50:14 AM »
Ok, it's time to get a machete and i am looking at the Cold Steel Panga Machete. From all the reviews i readed about it way better and cheaper then the Latin Machete. I am buy this as both a cutter and chopping down a saplings/wood stuff. has anyone else got this machete and is it as good as i have heard?

never had one of those.
had the other two with that
same handle, and i had to let
them go. the first one i had thoght
it was a poor blade design. i couldn't use
the thing for over five minutes without
bad hand and arm fatigue. got rid of
that one and got the other.(bolo i think)
same deal. five minutes and cramped
and sore hand and arm. it was the
poor handle design. myself, i think the
latin series machetes are head and
shoulders the best i've ever used.
i can use one of those most all day
working on the fencerow and not have
cramped and fatigued arm and hand.
the steel is good, although i think it may
be the same steel as the other cold
steel machetes. junk saplings and briars
are no match for this blade. i've about
wore one out between working it and
resharpening. next one i get will be the
longer model to see if it will keep my
hand farther from the briars. but i
can't say or not if it will be more
unwieldy than the shorter model.
good luck.
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Tramotina . Decent metal and cheap. Shape the blade and handle to fit you.

I have one, it works good and was inexpensive.  I prefer Bolo shape, not that it would work any better.

Have one of these and love it.  Wife gave it to me as a Christmas gift two years ago so I have no idea what it cost.  Have cleared a lot of trail around my deerstand with it.  Made in Brazil and came with a cotton sheath made in India.  I really like the little drop down at the rear of the handle so you don't have to hold it so tight while whacking.

I use one Jamal.  Keep it at deer camp for neighborhood improvement around my stands!   ;)

i was out looking around for the Cold Steel Panga, there was a man selling cutlery and i picked up this machete

the Blade Length is 19''  with 25 '' overall and made out of Carbon Steel with  wooden handles. it came with a green canvas sheath.  it's very sharp and i added some electrical tape for more grip on the handle.  he gave it to  me for 5$ because i was buying other stuff.

I think that looks pretty good Jamal.  And I like the wooden grips better then the thin plastic ones.  Matter of fact, I think I'll add putting thicker wooden grips on a my machetes to my "to do" list!   ;D
