I haven't had anything to drink since last 4th of July. But boy did those bulldog thingies taste good .
I get on a roll and last 4th of July I got in an argument with some British guy because I was making
smart remarks about the Queen. You know as in drag .

Happy new year you guys ! And yes it is ok to sometimes let your hair down . I deserve it .
Just don't make a habit of it . And don't drive. Where's my socks ? Oh I found them . I'm ok now
that's all I need. I want some cake I need that ! That's all I need .

Wife and I wrapped up our New Year's Eve celebebration with a late lunch that ended at 4pm, followed by 2 hour nap for me.
Wringing it in with LSU-Clemson. She might have a glass of wine, so I will be the designated clicker operator.
Hope it doesn't go into overtime.

We never go out anymore... $:-\$ Just try to stay awake, put a log on the fire and toast in the new year!

When I got home I was busy getting the Black Eyed peas and butter beans soakin, the hog jowls all cut up and all my pots are out ready to get things cookin in the morning!

Still gotta wash and cut up the collards, but I'll do that in the morning after my stock pots are boiling!

Have a good night the last day of the old year and a fun morning the first day of the new year!

No, it don't mean nuthin, I just figger the old should go out with a smile of satisfaction and the new come in with a laugh of anticipation!

I was on call for 20 years on New Years Eve, and in early years had to work the streets. I dealt with enough drunks to last me the rest of my old life. I'll sit this one out, like the last 19 New Years Eves. They'll do just fine without my antique ass out there.
Me and the "much better half" will take a look out tomorrow. If it ain't too cold, we've been invited on a bike run with the Harley boys in Sherman, Tx. I shined mine up yesterday, and it's sittin there waitin in the shop.

Haven't been out on AMATEUR NIGHT for a number of years now. Try to make sure we're in off the roads before dark these days. Just ain't worth taking a chance any more.

Anna be careful in that hot tub. I fell asleep in ours a couple weeks ago. Not a good experience. Sinus and lung problems for 3 or 4 days.

Guys thats a very smart move to stay in. I hate crowded bars full of screaming people just
asking for a DWI. I don't know about you guys but if I even get close to one of those my
professional life is cooked .

But you all have fun and snuggle up to your significant other and try to forget just for awhile all the
problems out there .They will all still be around on January two so relax and enjoy .
Lets all work on less stress and drama in our lives for the new year ! Especially on those things we
can not change. Just hold each other a little tighter tonight and tell them how much you love them.
Like was said in that old song by Carlie Simon. " These are the good old days ".

I remember that song ole Merle sure could sing in his day. But now days there is something not right
about a country singer trying to sing rap . That garbage ruined Rock and Roll.
But I listen to K-LOVE most of the time. The Christian rock bands call themselves the new outlaws
of rock music. I can't remember their name but there is a group out there that sounds just like the
old Eagles did .

First New Years off in so long I can't remember . So what do I do? Watch reruns of Twilight Zone. We have a little Jack Russell name Cookie that go's bonkers when thy set off fire works so I took her for a ride in the car from 11:45 till 12:30 . She is sleeping on her dog bed now, if she had heard fire works she would be on my lap shaking like the end of the world was here now.

I have worked for news papers for over 33 years now and had to work New Years for almost all of them, boy have times changed! "Back in the day" New Years at the paper was one big party. You had more booze being pasted around then some bars and we won't talk about the the other stuff.

( Not like it was that much different then the other days, when I started I remember them joking that if a news paper ever caught fire all you would see is a big blue flame.) There were fire works going off inside, horns blowing, bells any thing that made noise at midnight. Every thing was cool no one ever got hurt or got in trouble , thy seamed to know it sucked to have to work and let it go, hell a lot of them (bosses) joined in

. Now if some thing like went on thy would be going bonkers, trying figure who to fire and who tho send to rehab or some thing. That is one job thy found a way to suck the joy out of to no end.

So now I get the night off and what do I do? Watch TV and take the dog for a ride, wife hit the sack when I left with the dog and now I am looking around on the computer. There is a old saying "In side every old man is a young man asking what the hell happened !!!!!!! " $:-\$

I had me a little "old" Glennlevitt with water earlier yesterday afternoon. I was in bed asleep when Anna posted, as usual.
I am sure it was a good party--I know mine was comfortable and the dreams were good.
That was the first drink I had since Christmas Eve and before that a bloody mary last summer on vacation. I is heavy into drinin this year.
The year is planned, as far as I am concerned--I lean upon the Lord to have his will.
Well, second cup of coffe went down good and I just got my third. So far the year has started just as I planned.

'Sides, I had to get the cooking liquid ready for the greens and beans! It's simmering on the stove rite now.

Soon's I get cleaned up I'll chop the collards, get the chicken ready to fry and make the corn bread. People should start arriving around 2 but I doubt many of my brothers will be on bikes either!

Well crap; it snowed all day yesterday, so now we're hoping it melts away fast enough so we can head out in the sticks to my daughter's house for dinner. She caught a salmon yesterday, so that's what's for dinner. They live up in the hills where I'm sure they got more snow than we did. The highways will be clear, but they have a private road to get up to their house and it is a bugger. I'm not anxious to slide off into the ditch--not even for a fresh salmon dinner. But the sun is supposed to shine nice and bright today, so we'll see.

Happy New Year Anna, and everyone else. The community we live in is in the country and we have held a New Years Eve gathering here for the last 6 years or so. Our friends close by just come over here and hang out without having to get out on the road. Also we built a 24' x 30' gameroom with a pot bellied stove, TV, pooltable, dartboard and a lot of room for talking, guitar picking and such so we have a place to get inside if we want to. Good food and friends to wrap up the year with. Had one kinda new friend over this year from about 3 miles down the road. I'm the only one in the crowd that doesn't drink so I did drive him home in the wee hours this morning. Whe my wife gets motivated we'll take his truck to him before we settle in today for blackeyed peas, greens, pork chops and college football.

Errrrr, I'm moveing a little slow today. That stuff sure tasted better last night than thinking about it
today ! Bad Anna , I guess I had forgotten that you have to pay the piper the next day after listening to his music. I was lazy today , laid around in my Jammys drinking orange juice and watching the
Twilight Zone marathon. It's such a bummer when the holidays are over I was just getting into it.
2013, I'm getting old I turned 44 this last year and I guess now I will be getting thin skin and liver
spots ! I am getting things in the mail from the AARP ! Can you believe it I throw that stuff right in
the trash . You do know that if you open any of their mail you automatically age 20 years don't you ?

cut my lip need plastic surgery
then got heart surgery
i hope my hip ho;ds out for another year....doc can't believe i am walking

How many of you guys had the problem of still writing 2012 as the date today ? I call that calendar
lag, unlike jet lag it means you were not paying attention. But I did it all day long so 45/70 that
means I'm still 43

So I am not ready for the oxygen bottle and a walker just yet.
