Ruger compact

I'm selling my highly reliable and highly inaccurate Mini-14.  I was thinking about what to get as a replacement and the Ruger M77 compact caught my eye at the gun shop today.  Anyone here have one - how does it shoot?  Not looking for info on your favorite rifle just asking for info on the 77 Compact.

azshooter -

The Compacts are fun to handle, but I haven't shot one.  The light weight is going to mean more recoil, but in a .223 how bad can it be?

A lot of people disparage Ruger rifles, but I have yet to work with one that isn't a shooter.  The only thing I do to them is float the barrel and work up good loads.  Just picked up a Ruger M77 in .257 Rogerts last weekend.  Floated the barrel this evening with sandpaper and a Magic Marker, poyurethaned the freshly exposed wood, and will put it back together tomorrow before heading to the range to sight it in.  I fully expect this one will be a shooter, too.

My suggestion would be to get a full-size Ruger in .223, but if the Compact does it for you, go for it.

Azshooter :  A friend of mine sold his rem. model 7 to get the NEW ruger compact and I will agree it was a nice feeling rifle, after a while he was selling the ruger and going back to the rem. model I didnt get into much detail with him on it but he wasnt satisfied with it over the 7. :D   JIM
