Hello all, this is my first post here and let me start by thanking all who have worked to assemble this message board. The information and knowledge and advice here is a great resource to all who chose to use it.  I am just starting to re-build my Handi collection currently I have a bull barrel 223 with a thumb hole laminate stock.  Thanks to the help and advice printed in the FAQ’s and such here I have the 223 shooting more than good enough with the 55 grain Tula stuff and it shoots very well with better ammo when I take my time and rest the gun as suggested.  Turns out I trusted the factory a little too much and did not check the screws attaching the scope rail to the rifle.  I know better as I put removable thread locker on EVERY other screw before shooting. This rifle is bone stock with the exception of the rubber o-ring.

My other Handi is a plane 308 I recently traded a Handi 45-70 for.  Not the best of moves but changing my hunting club gave me more use for the 308 than the 45-70.  I want that rifle back but and one day I will get another one.  As of now the 308 is un-fired with a rubber o-ring and ALL scope mounting hardware is tight with thread locker applied.  Making a mistake once is my fault, repeating the same mistake twice would make me an idiot.

My question to the experts here is what can I expect from the Handi 308.  She will be my “working” gun, I am needing minuet of deer, hog, coyote accuracy out to 250-300 yards assuming the gun is proven at thoes ranges. Sorry for the long post, I have trouble shutting up sometimes.

You have the gun in your hands and your asking other's what to expect?  Try it out and make the determination whether it's sufficient for your puposes. I'm betting it will be MORE than adequate  :)   I like those 223 ultra thumbholes, btw.  8)

Welcome! Factory standard is 2" or under 3-shot groups at 100yds with factory ammo, I'd expect at least that good, much better with the "right" factory ammo, see Best Factory Ammo in the FAQs for what to try first. I've only handloaded for mine, but it shoots under an inch with the 168gr TSX and Varget.  ;)
