S.B. I have shot the Walther P22 5 inch barrel. The army green is way cool. I have medium sized hands and the fit was awesome. I never measured groups with it but was almost hitting a clay pigeon at around 60 yards. I think the P22 that was in my hands was very accurate. I'm sure there are better 22's out there but are they priced at $250? Dan.

Browning Buckmark Plus, with the prettiest set of Rosewood grips I ever saw. Snuggles down in my hand like a cat in my lap, and purrs just as loud. With me shooting it, is hell on clay pigeons on the backstop at 100 yards. I love guns that make me look good!

Mine is the Ruger MkII 6-7/8" Side Slab with a Millet Red Dot scope on it. With Winchester Power Points it is my only ground squirrel gun that I use. Last weekend I went down to Fox,Oregon ground squirrel hunting and help the ranchers out with their squirrels. In two days of hunting I went through three bricks of ammo and alot of squirrels. Had a blast. Longest shot taken was about 100yds. Mark

I have a S&W Model 648 revolver in 22 WMR. It shoots better than I can shoot it with low recoil (N-Frame). I add Pachmyer grips. It is LOUDDDDD!
I have not hunted very much wit it but I carry silencio ear plugs when I do.
The P22 accuracy concerns might be improved with the right ammo...
My friend had a High Standard semi auto years ago and he was VERY accurate with it.

My absolutely favorite rimfire handgun is my Ruger 22 LR/22 Mag convertible single six... and my Ruger Mark II 22 LR semi auto... and my S & W Model 317 with 3" barrel and adjustable sights.
But seriously I do love all three of them. I like the Single Six for plinking. I like all western style guns. I have an original 1873 Winchester manufactured in 1891. My son and I co-own a Cimarron replica 1873 Winchester. I have a Marlin Golden 39A Mountie lever action 22 manufactured about 1970 I also have two Ruger Blackhawks. John Wesley Hardin, the gunfighter, was my cousin. My wife tells me that I was born a hundred years too late.
But if I am going hunting I like the Ruger Mark II. It is more accurate.
If I am going hiking or backpacking or any other activity where weight is a serious concern, I carry the S & W 317. It is eight shot and only weighs 9.9 ounces. It is not as accurate as the Mark II but it is accurate enough.

Smith & Wesson Model 41, of course! A ten ring gun right out of the box.
Second is a Walther PPK.
They don't make quality like this any more...

A 4in. Colt Diamondback is my favorite but the least used handgun I own and it will stay that way, past up the matching 38 years ago and have been sick since then, the most used 22 handgun is a S&W model 422 light weight and more accurate than I am the ruger mkII is fine but a little heavy for my taste.

My favorite is my current Single-Six.
It's the 5.5" stainless model, and shoots both long rifles, and magnums very well.

Definitely a S&W model 41. I have several other 22's (Mk-II, T/C, K22, etc.) but the model 41 is the best!

Lots of good choices. Love the S&W mod 41.
But for me, the best performance for price are the Ruger MK II target bull barrel, and the Single Six revolver. BTW, I see no significant difference in accuracy between 22 LR and Mag in either of 2 Single Sixes.

My favorit .22 lr handgun is:
Ruger Mark II Target 5 1/2" bull barrel, drilled & tapped for the Ruger factory base & rings, w/a Millet SP1 red dot.
Even
I
can put a whole 10 round clip into a 1" orange dot @ 25 yards, w/ Winchester Power Point ammo - I'm sure the gun is capable of a fair amount better!
This combo has accounted for A LOT of small game!! It's all I've used for small game hunting the last 7 -8 years, with a couple other revolvers given a chance now & then to keep the cob webs out of them!

I have two 22 lr pistols. A Ruger MK1 tapered barrel target that I bought in the early 70's. The second is a newly purchased S&W 617 10 shot/ 6" barrel. They are both great to shoot after doing the larger bores at the range. I just hate to clean the Ruger, but I could not bring myself to get rid of it either. I will probably scope the 617 and punch paper with it.

Almost any S&W K-22 is sweet. my personal favorite from my collection would have to be my pre-war K-22 (39') with my mod 18 a close second.

That's a hard one. I'll narrow it down to two.
Serious 22 pistol work: Stainless 6.5" Single Six w/Super Blackhawk gripframe
Small packing/plinking: Walther Manhurin PP in 22LR.

Try the Rugers, MKII and 22-45 both great guns. There are lots of aftermarket stuff if you like to tinker. The (512's) 5 1/2 inch bull barrels shoot great, I like the balance of them. almost 9000 thousands of rounds have gone through mine and just as accurate as was when new. Easy to strip and clean.

beretta neos, so accurate, so easy to take apart and put back together, also the cool factor. Also you may wanna do a Taurus tracker, 6 or 10 inch bbl, they make it in 22 , 22mag, and 17 , with 8 or 9 shot cylinders!

Well, I guess I'll weigh in on this one. While I enjoy punching holes in paper, I love hunting small game with a handgun. My favorite 22rf is my scoped Savage Striker. It loves anything I put through it. The one caveat is I do shoot with sticks for a bipod

Browning Buckmark! Best fit for my hands out of any pistol. They're cheap, very easy to take down for cleaning, or to swap out the barrel or sights.

Ruger Single Six-hands down my favorite.
I've got one with a blued 4 5/8" barrel that I shoot clay pigeons at 50 yards with the 22 mag cylinder and hit most of the time.
I have been looking for the stainless 4 5/8" version forever, I love them so much!

This is my favorite. I have many others but this one would be the last to go if I had to get rid of them.
I have other guns that are more accurate and are worth more as collector guns go but this one is my working gun and it is plenty accurate for what I need it for.

At the other end of the scale you will find my H&R model 649 convertible.
This was a $60 gun in 1975 and they made a bunch of them.
Thing is that it will Shoot! has been a great companion for either the trap line or Squirrel hunting.
Is also my (Signature) gun for pistol smithing as I have replaced most of the inner parts at least once and the pawl spring and pawl at least twice to include fabrication of a more durable spring out of Foxboro instrumentation parts!
I have worked on the inner frame also using needle files and carefully applied JB Weld to smooth and fill voids and wallowings caused by normal wear.
Is working fine now and I may work on it again if, or when nessary just because it will shoot, and shoot's very well.
