any way to date production of encore?
« on: November 15, 2012, 05:20:47 PM »
I was curious if there was a halfway accurate way to know when my frame was made? I'm guessing it is an older model as the serial # is 36XXX. Again I'm guessing. Seems like a rather low # for as many of these frames that are out there. I figure if I call TC all I'm gonna hear is that all of that info was lost in the fire. So I thought maybe someone had some kind of idea about it. Whatever vintage it is its a good one, good tight lockup & near perfect headspace with every barrel I've ever pit on it. My buddies new pro hunter is excessively sloppy compared to mine & he has issues with hanging new barrels on it most of the time. I'm in the process of buying a pro hunter myself with a heavy fluted .223 rem barrel on it & shop owner allowed me to put one of my barrels on it to see how it fit up prior to me buying it & it fits up nice & tight like mine. I didn't think to look at the serial # on it but it's obviously quite a bit newer than my blue frame. Be safe & shoot straight.
