Fitting question

I recently bought used barrel for my handi rifle. When i go to put the barrel on my frame and close the barrel all the way it won't go down far enough to lock the barrel and there is very small gap between the breech of the barrel and the face of the frame. I am guessing from reading the FAQ section that the pivot point on the underlug needs to have a little taken off so it will close all the way and lock up. I wanted to ask before i did anything to make sure i made the correct diagnosis. Any info would be appriciated. Thanks

Sounds like you have it right to me, but I haven't had to do that yet, all mine have been shims    I'm sure someone with more experience will chime in soon.  Keep reading the FAQs and I know it's hard not to get excited but whatever you do, don't be in a hurry   She'll be shootin fore ya know it

I know this won't help your immediate problem, but I keep three, sometimes four spare SB2 frames.  Invariably, a new barrel will fit one of the frames perfectly.  At this point, none of my Handis has been shimmed or had metal removed.  Yes, they are an investment, but they're like money in the bank and can be sold in our classifieds for whatever they cost.  The only big problem with them is they weaken your resistance.  Knowing they are there, it's very easy to pick up another barrel.  Then, of course you need the scope, the sling, the stock set, ammo or reloading dies, bullets and brass, etc. etc.
