hi iam new to the forums and i wating to know if there was a resonably priced left hand action avalable or if would be cheaper or easier to by a left handed 30-06 then have rebored to 338. because i ont have the mone :?: y to buy the weatherby 338-06 and i have wanted one for while now and intend to use on elk all help is appreciated. :?

Likely much easier, faster and cheaper to rebarrel a lefty 700 or Savage or whatever.

Reboring has dropped off in the last few years since it's often cheaper to screw on a new tube rather than hog out the old one.

Probably the least expensive way to get yourself set up with a lefty .338-06 is to purchase a new LH Savage 110-116 in .30-06 @ $370 then get an A-B barrel from Midway @ about $150. All that is required is a barrel-nut wrench & go/no-go gauges which your local gunsmith should have, or you can buy those tools and do it yourself. I have been researching this myself for a .358 winchester since I already have a .338-06.
If you wanted a single-shot then you could get a T/C Encore set up in .338-06 for about the same dough.
Hope this helps, either way you wind up with a real flexible cartridge.
