I'm going to try my hand at night hunting for coyotes and I was wondering what you night hunters used for lights, brand, lumens, and color?  I have heard some folks claiming  they use green or a strobing red cause the coyotes can't see it. From you folks that are accually out there doing it how true are these theorys? The rifles I have to use are my M4 with a eotech and a 3x magnifier and my AR10 in 308 with a 2-7 on it. I'm figuring to use the ar10 and a 110gr Vmax at 2800fps. For lights I'm thinking 200 lumens or better I have a surefire G2X it has no problem seeing out to 300 yards at night. Primary arms is having a sale on a 420lumen light for $90 though it is made in china

There has been a lot of improvements in spotlights since I bought the last of mine many years ago.    And some that they are quite proud of from the prices.   Worth the price, maybe, actually needed in the field...  being old skol not IMO.

Regardless the Brinkmann Q-Beams got the job done for doing serious ADC in spades, and they were reasonably priced.   Had scope mounted with rechargeable battery belt packs and other scope mounted that plugged in to my trucks, and hand held for the trucks as well, some with very long cords.   My models were good to go for 100, 250 and 350 yards, the later two adjustable to reach much farther.     Don't think I paid more than $60 for any of them, some less.   Gave the ones I used to friends when I stopped doing ADC, think I still have a couple new in their boxes in storage someplace.   All had snap on or off red lenses that I tried out but seldom used for predators.  Just not needed IME if you keep the main beam off them except for maybe the shot itself on long shots.

Found a couple of old pictures of a couple mounted...

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
