Tsunami Warning
« on: October 27, 2012, 07:06:53 PM »
My radio just went balistic.  That warning system they use in the case of an emergency.  A Tsunami Warning has been posted for Southeastern Alaska, and portions of British Columbia.  Due to hit Douglas Alaska about 9:15 PM.  Evacuate to higher ground.  Hope the folks in Southeastern are ready and have moved already.  May God be with you folks.  I know some of the people living down there are members here.  Let us know after you come back home how you made out.  Rog

That was dumb, if you are OK let us know.  If we don't hear anything we will be hoping for the best, and that you have a home to come back to.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

William, I had posted the message and went on doing other things.  Then I got to thinking, if the Tsunami hit the affected folks would not be able to let us know how they were affected.  I felt that was DUMB on my part.  So I went back and nmodified the post.  But since folks had already read it I did not want to delete and retype it.  I admitted my dumb move. then went on.

This morning I have not heard any reports from Southeastern as to the affects of the Tsunami.  There was an Earth Quake out from the British Columbia coast.  The type where one plate slids under another.  The kind that produces tsunamis.  It was a 7.7 Quake, but it seems little damage has occured.  No reports have come in about damage.  The coast and Hawaii lucked out on this one.  Good end of story I guess.

What caused it?

The alerts came after the U.S. Geological Survey said a 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit in the Queen Charlotte Islands area Saturday night. I think the warning has been downgraded to an advisory. I believe Hawaii was also issued a warning because of the same quake.
