Joined the AR crowd the other day

Hey guys, I got into the ar crowd the other day.  Got a pretty good deal on a Del-ton.  Its 5.56chamber, 16in barrel, 1 in 9 twist,  came with a redfield 2-7x32 scope and a vertical grip with a built in bipod. I think itll fit the coyote hunting bill quite nicely.  Seems to shoot pretty well but a trigger is gonna be a must.   Ive gotta get some reloads down the pipe. Hadnt really heard much about Delton.  Seemed ok on some of the reviews I read online.  Have any of you guys had any experience with them....good or bad?
Thanks in advance

Deltons are a good rifle.  They aren't top shelf, but in the ar world, there are very little differences that separate the "elite" rifles from the cheaper ones.  The mechanics of all ar's is basically the same, and as you said you don't like your trigger.   That's common with them, keep in mind they are designed to mil specs, so durability trumps the little things.  The lowers of all ar's are all the same too.  It's the finish that you tend to pay more for, but a flat black rattle can fixes any issues with finish.  I would just see how she shoots.  I've heard good and bad things about their barrels.

Remember to keep it lightly oiled as too much causes issues.  Most guys use Mobil 1 5w30

I have a 20" Del-Ton A2.  Its my regular plinker/coyote rifle.  Fit and finish is on par for most AR manufacturers.  As a matter of fact, I think most parts are supplied by DPMS.  Its been a great rifle so far, and I expect it will be for quite some time.  The only modification I've made is a Timney trigger.  They're expensive, but totally worth it.  Using cheap, steel case Wolf brand ammo, I can shoot sub MOA groups all day long.  I don't think you'll need a black rattle can, and I would recommend you save the Mobil 1 for your truck.  All I do is leave a thin layer of Rem Oil on the bolt/carrier assembly when I clean it (which is a pretty rare occasion).  Mine has still yet to fail me.  I expect you'll have a similar experience with yours.  Good luck and happy shooting.

Not a fan of remoil.. it's Not slick enough.  Synthetic motor oil coats and clings to the parts it needs to, while providing superior smoothness.  Too each their own.. I suggest joining a more Ar forum and asking questions there

Break Free CLP is best for the AR.

never notice a big differnce in reliability in ars due to differnce in oil used. there basicaly a loose sloppy gun and about any oil will keep them running. I like them on the wet side. Ive seen more troubles caused by underlubing then by which lube i used.

Thanks for the input guys.  I ran a few more rounds through it this weekend, and a few reloads, im pretty happy with accuracy so far, put some 50gr vmax and 55gr sierras down the tube.  Looks like its got some good potential.  How often do you generally lube them?  Cj did u install a single or 2 stage trigger in yours? Thanks again for the input guys I appreciate it
