It was an entirely different world back then.  Only the tough survived.

Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I wonder how all the gang wars will be remembered at some future date? The streets of D.C., Detroit, or Chicago could easily outdo Laredo, Tombstone, or Dodge City.

I gathered from reading accounts of gunfights and gunfighters that what was remarkable was not the skill with guns, but their willingness to use them.

The murder rates in any of our modern cities has far exceeded those of the old west for decades.

One of the most telling facts about the increase in our modern crime rates is to recall that the notorious "St. Valentine's Day Massacre" in gangland Chicago involved the death of only seven gangsters.
