Hard work pays off
« on: October 19, 2012, 02:08:24 PM »
I live in California and I just found this out. : A young woman of 23 has an 8 year old daughter. She recieved Pell grants, Board of Govenor grants, welfare and food stamps totaling about 40k$ a year non taxable. All she had to do was attend 5 classes per semester at a univeristy in California and she could get a 4 year degree. Folks that is collect 160, 000 tax free for 4 years getting a degree that would help her support her child. What a great program!!!  (Yes this is first hand knowledge.)

After one semester the young woman traded all this in for a part time job at Denny's resturaunt so she could have a social life.

Anyone care to protest about the 1% having all the money?

There should be a clause in the contract somewhere that if she doesn't finish, she has to repay the money......

I should have added she went to school for one semester and quit. So she only recieved money for one semester. In actuality she recieved about 20k.
I was just so spun up by the thought of such a great opportunity being thrown away I posted without that fact.

Paid to go to college and learn something to better yourself and child or accept a minimum wage job and repeat the cycle through the next several generations.

Agreed failed classes etc money should be paid back.
