My Son's First Buck!!
« on: September 29, 2012, 04:12:57 PM »
Patience and practice paid off for him! He was holding out for a buck and passed 4 does this morning, then this fella came in. He made a perfect shot at 40ish yards with his .44 Handi! I'm very proud, and so is he!

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I can well imagine your pride. I'm more proud of my daughters first deer than any I have ever taken. I wish she could do it over again but there is only one first.

Great job and Congratulations to the both of you!

I can remember both of my boys (young men now) first deer, as well as my first wih my own father, like it was yesterday. It just does not get much better than that. They are some of the best memories I have, and I cherish them. I do so hope for the opportunity to be there for my grandchildrens first deer too, Lord willing.

Good Job! Nice to have the kids learning and the fact that he held out for the buck is something I could rarely do.  ::)   Thanks for sharing. Good luck on your tag.

Thanks everybody!  Picture added.  I'm proud he had the fortitude to stick to his plan.  He was content to just watch the does, and keep his eye on the prize!  He took his first deer last year at 7 years old (a doe.)  So he had that first buck looming large in his mind for this year's deer season.

Way to go!!!!  I remember my first buck like it was yesterday, however it's been over 47 years.  Whenever I pick up that Win Model 94 in .32 Win Special I still get goose bumps.  Keep up the good hunting and may he get many, many more!

I'd say we now have a new hunter among us, Congrats to you and your son. Now we need to get him on here, after the homework is done. Take care, John.
It's not what you do, but how you do what you do, that counts.
Just keep on keeping on!

Congrats to your son for holding out and getting himself a good looking buck. Congrats to you for taking the time effort of training and taking him.

I have helped several kids get into hunting. Last few years I have not had any around to help get into it. But grandbabies are growing up  ;)
