Got A Surprise
« on: September 22, 2012, 02:47:20 PM »
I got up from a nap today and when I stepped out of the bedroom door I almost stepped on a 3 foot long Black Snake! Wasn't sure what kind it was at first, till I flipped a light on, but luckily it wasn't a Copperhead nor Rattler. I caught it and let it loose outside. i'll be keeping my eyes open cause if one snake can get in so can more. I'm just glad I found it before it found my wife's new Shih Tzu puppy that's a tiny little guy. Funny thing is I had just recently read about a guy getting bitten by a Copperhead in his basement and that with the hot dry weather we've been having snakes are finding their way into homes looking for cool moist places out of the heat. Guess it's true! ;)

I caught a 10" copperhead in a sticky trap in the kitchen about 15 years ago. I had a guy go under the house, and mouse proof it, which also snake proofs it. In theory. If I caught a 3 footer in the house and Linda found out, I'd have to buy a new house.
Since I got the Jack Russell about 10 or 12 years ago, I have seen one snake on my place, and he didn't last long.

I'd be looking for how it got in.  If it got in more will follow.  That pup needs to grow up fast and learn how to defend itself, or be dinner.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
