Updated today at 1:13 PM       (WHAS11) -- Metro police have arrested a man who, they say, stole $100,000 from his grandma who is suffering from dementia.
William Duley faces felony charges of exploiting an adult and theft.
Police say he had his grandmother add his name to her bank accounts and then allegedly cashed out several of her certificates of deposit and had her write him checks totaling $98,000.
Duley was his grandma's caretaker and police say she couldn't remember that her grandson stole money from her.

I used to know a jerk that did about the same thing to his mom. Even after they caught him and got alot of the money back, he never went to jail and is still driving the 43,000 dollar pickup that he paid cash for with his mom's money. When we found out what he did, he became one of the loneliest people in town.   >:(
This dope didn't even try very hard to hide it either. All of a sudden he had enough money to buy a 6,000 dollar horse, new pickup, 20,000 dollar horse trailer and spending money like it was going out of style. He invested 59,000 dollars with an investment broker. All while unemployed for 2 or 3 years. He not only cleaned out mom's accounts, but, he sold her house and was conniving to get her put in a county old folks home. I don't know the total amount he stole from his mom, but it was alot. This guy was a real bad drunk and emotionally/mentally disturbed ex-Marine. The law always did give the guy a break when he should have been arrested for fighting and driving drunk. But not too many people would even talk to him after what he did to his mom.

My brother in law did that to his mother. Do you want his name and address? My friends father n law got it even worse. His daughter changed the meds so he was deranged, then she took all the money methodically, and then changed the meds again, killing the man. All legal. No punishment, even after being found guilty of crimes that seem major but have little punishment attached to them. Basic problem is that when you hear about lawyers who specialize in elder law, they are not nterested in protecting the elders, they are interested in getting their cut from the people who want to rob the estate. That is the simple truth. I am not exaggerating or speculating.

Well! I guess I will be the hardnosed guy on this one! Anybody caught during daylight hours doing this should be "Drawn and Quartered" before the next sunset!
 
If caught during the night should be hung at dawn!!
 
If this type of punished was meted out, I am sure you would see a rapid decline in this type of behavior!!
