Model 37 Winchester-age 4. My grandfather and uncles loaded up the 16 ga. and set the barrel on a wooden orange crate. I touched off the trigger and the next view I remember is looking up at the sky with everyone looking down at me laughing. I did not think it was funny at the time but I got over it in no time.

J. C. Higgins Model 20 12 gauge. Made by Hi Standard. Date of that first shot not recorded but likely some time around mid 1950s. Maybe a bit earlier.

I am old -but real new to the world of shot-gunning my first shot was from an 1919 Winchester Model 12 - 32" barrel at a clay bird - I hit it but things went downhill from there - didn't really matter I was hooked - great fun...
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

My first shot was from my dads Remington 1100 12 gauge at skeet.

My first shot while hunting was with an Ithaca 37 16 gauge.  I shot a Wood Duck hen when I was in junior high with that gun.

I will never forget shooting it with the old pump.

...a 12 ga single shot marked "Bay State."  Felt like awesome power to a pre-teen, but it did not knock me over as predicted!

Rem 870 Express...I was shooting 3" Sluggers at a target to sight my gun in for my first whitetail season about 8 years ago.  I had never shot a shotgun before let alone one with a 3" Slugger.  What a kick

A 12ga Browning A-5 that my father had (it's mine now.  turns out he didn't like it much).  I was 5 years old, and my dad let me shoot it with a mild target load at an old tree stump (he braced me from behind to make sure I didn't fall over from the recoil or anything).

Hello, Gents.  I look forward to learning a thing or two from you.

The first shotgun I ever shouldered was Dad's '67 model, 20 guage A5.  I was about 5 at the time and it knocked me over a stump.  That was in '78 and I've have been bird hunting ever since.

A St. Louis Arms 32" double barrel 12. I was 7. Knocked me down. Belonged to my gr. gr. grandfather, passed down to my dad and now me. It hangs on my wall, with my gr. grandfather's Am. Arms hammer double with damascus barrels, and my grandfather's Iver Johnson.

Ithaca lever action .410 single shot. Great White Chickadee hunter. Well, it was a step up in sportsmanship from the pellet rifle. It didn't have anywhere near the range.

I graduated from a Red Ryder BB Gun straight to an old JC Higgins single shot 12.   :D The old Higgins was still my one and only when I left home for military service.

The first shotgun that I ever fired was an old plastic stocked Savage 16 guage single shot that belonged to my dad.  He held the gun and I squeezed the trigger.   The first that I ever really fired was my first shotgun; which was a Revelation .410 single shot. :-)

Hard to beleive it will be 52 years this fall when I shot my first shotgun.   I was 13 yrs. old and it was my first hunting experience.  It was my dad's Parker Bros. double barrel 12 ga.  We chased a grey squirrle up a hollow tree stump about 10' to 12' high.  It came out at the top.  I took aim and droped him.
Today I shot trap at the local gun club and got 96 out of 100 with my Browning Citori Lightning Sporting Clays 12 ga.  I really enjoy it.
