Horrible year for ducks
« on: February 08, 2004, 01:21:41 PM »
Our season ended a few weeks ago and to be honest not too soon.  Our lakes in Oklahoma were bone dry and hunting was hard.  Weather was too warm and the ducks never came, or flew past without stopping.

Geese were in large supply but just no ducks.

Anyone else have a similar/different season?

horrible year for ducks

I had a pretty good year for ducks in NC KS.  My favorite marsh which was full had to much pressure.  This is probably because the big favorite spot (Cheyenne Bottoms) in west central KS was dry.  I was able to find little out of the way spots on public ground to hunt to stay away from the crowd.  I got out 40 times and shot 81 ducks.  Generally, my success was pretty good.  I had a couple streaks of getting shut out that pulled my average down some.

We desparately need water in west and central KS.  Our ponds are about gone.
