Keith Ellison,(D, Muslim, MN) hates the GOP..primarily I assume, because they don't agree with his political views. He hates them he says, because they are trying to outlaw Sharia law in the U.S...weelll DUH!
He hates the GOP because they put a line in their platform, which would make it more difficult for foreign laws which disagree with our constitution, ...to become U.S. law. He also hates Rep Michelle Bachmann (R, Christian, MN).
So why did Ellison take such offence? The sentence in the platform which bunched his panties so badly was..;
" Nor should foreign sources of law be used in state courts; adjudication of criminals or civil matters".
Now..that simple sentence sure wadded up Ellison's silk panties!! I think he has a guilty conscience plus anger because he had plans for legislation.
SCOTUS justice Ginsberg has said she prefers the South African constitution to our own and cited European law as superior to our own.. Other judges across the country..have used foreign laws & it's principles to decide cases here in the U.S.
Obviously it was not aimed exclusively at Sharia..but so what? No outside laws should take precedence over our own..no matter what kind of law it is..
