Engraved Model 60
« on: February 08, 2004, 12:23:17 PM »
Guys...

Don't know much at all about these revolvers, but I ran across one in a gun shop that's really interesting.  Found a S&W Model 60, .357, 3" barrel with adjustable sights and black u-thane grips...with a laser engraved Rattlesnake and the Gadsden "Don't Tread on Me" battle banner.  Thought I might pick it up for my son who just finished his MS...he's a Biologist who has been doing field research on timber rattlesnakes for almost four years now.

The gun is NIB and they want $699 for it.  The engraving adds some sentimental value to the piece...but is this price "in-the-ballpark" for a gun of this type.  MSRP on S&W.com is $600.

Thanks guys!  ...Chris    :D

..........I haven't seen a similar gun so I don't have a real price to compare it with....BUT the gun is a nice belt gun and is a great walking in the woods gun without the engraving.....and the appeal of the engraving is hit or miss....some love it and pay more and others you couldn't give it to them.......I'd want them to make the price a flat price and eat the tax if it is a "normal" gun shop that trades and similar swaps.......wish I had more real world reference but the normal gun is not that common in my area.......tell the boy not to get to close to his work.........good luck and good shooting!!!

I paid only a bit more than half of that for mine back before the agreement. Without any engraving of course. Don't know current retail but that seems rather high to me unless the engraving really is something that you particularly want.
