Gone for 3+ years, need front sight for 357 barrel
« on: August 25, 2012, 06:52:03 PM »
A few years ago, I had some trouble getting a new barrel for my Handi and some members here stepped in and helped me out. Remington refunded me my money and John Loschin offered to fix the messed up barrel they sent me. At the time, my wife was in a mental hospital, then a month later she was pregnant, was told we needed an abortion, then she wanted a divorce, and a week before my son was born, she booted me out of the house.

Needless to say, my priorities for getting my Handi Rifle back up and running fell to the wayside. I still have the Handi, the original bull 243 barrel and the 357 barrel Remington sent back to me, minus the front sight and hammer spur extension. The rear sight blade was also damaged and needs to be replaced.

I don't feel right about asking Remington to fix it after waiting so long. They don't even offer the 357 barrel with iron sights right now. Can someone tell me the part # for the proper factory replacement part for the front sight on the 357 barrel?

On a positive note, my 3 year old son is sitting here next to me, in a new home. I have custody of my kids 50% of the time, pay no child support and have a great girlfriend.

Glad to hear everything is going good.  Someone will know something and get your Handi ontrack to.

Welcome back and glad to hear you have your life back!!  ;) PM Brian56 and ask what the part number is for the front sight, I have two 357 barrels, but have never used the iron sights on them, one is ~.550" tall and the other is ~.395" tall, H&R has been notorious for mismatching the sights, so Brian should know what sight is correct, he'll also have the rear sight part. H&R has made the 357 Talo Trapper with sights recently, so they might have those sights in stock.
