'looking for a truck gun - I have a choice between a Remington 788 and a 600 Mohawk - both in .243, both in good shape. I know they are bread and butter type guns and not fancy, however, I was wondering what you pros would suggest. Thanks

Not a pro here, however between the 2 mentioned I would go with the 600 it is a lot shorter than the 788 making it a great get out of the truck rifle, I have owned more of the 600 models than the 788 and they were one of my favorites, good luck in your choice.

I have a Mohawk in the 222 that is a nice "out the window gun"

.....I have had both and have seen both of them shoot alot better than they look sometimes......I like the 600 for the short size and the action over the 788 but I'd go by which shot best for you and which stock fit your shooting hold best.....good luck and good shooting!!

I would go with the 600 but for the collector status, not to throw across the seat of a pick-up. These are the same action as the XP100 aren't they?
