I did a search but all the results I got were for T/C's. Has anyone done a rechamber to 7-30 Waters? What was the doner barrel?  :)   Tried reading y'alls signatures, but got sort of crosseyed after a few of the lists some of you have. LOL

The only way to get a 7-30 in a Handi is the rebore and rechambering of a smaller barrel like Hornet or 223 or have a stubbed barrel made by a gunsmith or machinist, see barrel stubbing in the FAQs. JES Reboring just did a 376 Steyr from a 7mm-08 barrel for me, he charges $225 for 3-groove if he has the reamer, $285 if he has to rent it.

The Waters is a great efficient little cartridge!  I had a couple in short and long barrels in the Contender. I shot deer and a couple boars with mine. Easy on the shoulder, great accuracy and efficiently harvested game. What more could you ask for!!! 

Another good one is the 7MM STE. Pretty much same thing. Lane Simpson (IIRC) came up with it for the Marlin lever actions. When looking into the ER rifles.

I would like to have a handi so chambered. But then I start thinking a 7/08 barrel could be easily altered to include a rim and loaded with 307/356 brass for a wildcat. But using existing 7/08 dies and a 30/30 shell holder. Ballistics would far exceed the Waters and costs would be next to nothing....

It's on the back burner when I again get 7mm fever.....

This post may get me sent to my room with no supper but..............
 To me the 7-30 deserves to be used in a nice Model 94 Win with a 20" barrel
I can load my 7-08 Handi down to Waters specs if I want to but prefer the 7-08 spec ammo. Just my 2 cents ;D

IIRC the Winchester 7/30's has 24" barrels.

That's one of the "niceities" of adding a rim. A properly adjusted extractor will still allow STD 7/08 ammo to be fired!

I have a 307 made from a 308 as well as a 356 made from a 35 Rem that fires 358's as nice as can be!

You could argu "why the rim" as I'm sure Doc n Tim are sayin as they read along. ;). But that's another thread. ::)
 My answer is and always will be "I like rims" in my single shots. It's the way it was and the way it should be. My justification is a rimless case came to be, because it was discovered to be better for feeding in a repeating action.

So as rimless is better in a repeater, so is a rimmed is better in a single shot!

I know this is the H&R forum and I hope I don't step on any toes, but wouldn't a CVA scout in 7-08 be a good candidate for rechambering?

Not to 7-30 Waters, the 7mm-08 chamber is bigger than a 7-30 chamber, you can't make the chamber smaller by rechambering,  just bigger.
