IIRC the Winchester 7/30's has 24" barrels.
That's one of the "niceities" of adding a rim. A properly adjusted extractor will still allow STD 7/08 ammo to be fired!
I have a 307 made from a 308 as well as a 356 made from a 35 Rem that fires 358's as nice as can be!
You could argu "why the rim" as I'm sure Doc n Tim are sayin as they read along.

My answer is and always will be "I like rims" in my single shots. It's the way it was and the way it should be. My justification is a rimless case came to be, because it was discovered to be better for feeding in a repeating action.
So as rimless is better in a repeater, so is a rimmed is better in a single shot!
