Never heard of using shot in a 50 caliber muzzle loader, but if you insist, here is some loading data using a 188gr solid bullet:
http://www.goexpowder.com/images/LoadCharts/RB-Rifle-Musket.pdf
Now, think about this ... the shot charge is anemic  - 188 gr = 0.429714 oz

I'd "square load"..set my measure fer 60gr. 2f, and load shot with the same measure, same volume. I'd experiment from there, alla while square loading..Probly sumbody smarter than me on this though..
Lost between sunrise and sunset yesterday-one golden hour...never to be found or reclaimed:-(

Shot from a rifled bore is generally a loosing proposition but doesn't this belong in the muzzleloader forum?
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.
