Survivor stock strength?
« on: June 13, 2012, 02:06:52 PM »
I just acquired a survivor stock set and was curious if it can handle the recoil of 445sm? I believe ive heard stories of synthetic thumbhole type stocks collapsing from heavy recoil. The 445 doest kick that hard but I just wanna be sure. thnx

The ones they mentioned were self adjusting under recoil were the adjustable AR type stock. And some fixed them by adding a dowel cut to length inside and either adding a butt plate or just putting the butt plate back on, sorry not sure which but the survivor stlye is not adjustable like the AR type. and guys were getting raccoon eye by the scope on a high recoil gun.  Not everybody but some had some bloody pics to share....  :(
Good luck with your project.    thejanitor

The Survivor stock is more than strong enough for the 445SM. It's only weak point is the same for all H&R stocks except the ATI collapsible...the stock/receiver junction. The ATI's are an AR style collapsible stock and have been reported to slip under recoil. Once the Survivor is tightened on you won't have any problems, nothing can move.
