Personally I would go for a Howitzer style gun carriage to mount it on  ;D
check these guys out they make some neat looking brakes:

Jason,

Just shoot a handful of Tyler's 2,550 FPS 405 grain loads and then go back to your 300 grainers and they will seem like cat sneeze rounds. ;)

King Armory might be another option. That is where I have commited to getting a 50 cal tank/artillary style brake for my 500 S&W. I will not have it on the rifle until sometime after July, so I have no first hand experience with the product/service just yet. I did a lot of reading and research and they appear to have a better/superior product. Just giving you a place to research and contact.

How much powder are you planning on burning per round?

How much powder are you planning on burning per round?

With a 300 grain Sierra Jacket FN, COL 3.7" and fired and unresized Norma brass, 100% case capacity is;

95 Grains I3031

98.5 Grains I4350

Your results may very, my gun has a fairly tight chamber.  Also, I have never loaded past 90% case capacity with either of these powders and this bullet.

79 grains i3031 was the best load today,no signs of pressure, still got alot of room in case, might have to try some hotter loads ,got the hornady 300 hollow point loaded into the rifling

For muzzle brakes take a look at Ross Schuler, Mountain Home, Idaho... Ross make a great product at a great price... I have many of his brakes and they perform flawlessly.

I think you're going to find several things:

the 45-120 is operating at a low pressure, which is going to make the brake much less effective

the 45-120 isn't a "long range" round, of course it can be done, but I still wouldn't want to shoot a ballistically inferior round that is still going to have plenty of recoil at long range

the 45-120 isn't "that" bad, and I think braking it will take out much of the joy of shooting it.

Just my opinion.  If you still want a brake certainly get a baffle style one.  One with 360 degree ports is less effective, uglier, and throws dirt.

The most effective ones are probably JP brakes, painkiller brakes from kirby allen, and muscle brakes. (google should find all of those)

I think the BPCR 1000yd. guys would argue the 'not a long range' round.

What kind of shooting do you want to do with it?  If you're not going to use smokeless loads then the blackpowder loads really won't have much pressure to make the brake effective.

Sure the round can lob bullets out there, but they are not in any way as effective as modern rounds with high BC bullets.

The 499HE or 50-140 is prolly as close as you'll get to 50BMG in a Handi.  ;)
