Selling stuff. How?

We'll be empty nesters at the end of August, and I want to sell a bunch of stuff we don't need any more, like some furniture and kid stuff. I'm looking at Craigs List or EBay instead of a garage sale. Have you tried selling stuff that's bulky and can't practically be mailed through any tool like Craigs List or Ebay? I have no experience with them. Thanks!

I've used CraigsList several times to sell big stuff locally, hospital bed, used tires and wheels, garden tractor, outboard motors, exercise equipment, things for which shipping would be impractical or costly, have also bought stuff thru them, works great for local sales and purchases of used stuff.
